Troubleshooting Guide

eSIM not working? Don’t stress! Follow this guide to get you up and running.

  1. Disable VPN and any secondary SIM/eSIM lines (for dual SIM phones)
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi and disable airplane mode before scanning the eSIM
  3. Confirm mobile data is sourced from our eSIM (i.e. the correct eSIM profile is selected)
  4. Turn data roaming on (Android: select all network)
  5. Wait up to 10 minutes for activation to occur
  6. APN: e-ideas | Username: [blank]  Password: [blank] (Android: select manually)
  7. Turn off automatic network selection and manually choose from the list below.
  8. Restart your phone and/or turn on and off airplane mode

This was the first time I used an eSIM. It was fantastic! The instructions were easy to use and within seconds of landing on the tarmac I switched on the eSIM and I had the internet. It worked brilliantly for the entire 20 days I was in Hong Kong, China and Macau. I will definitely use Travelkon again.

Setting up and activating the CMHK eSIM was straightforward and hassle-free. It connects to the China Mobile network in China. Initially, I encountered some sluggish connections on both iPhone and Android devices in certain areas, but disabling 5G resolved the issue. 4G speed proved to be more than sufficient. For an 18-day trip with typical usage (excluding YouTube), 10GB of data is recommended.
