This China unlimited eSIM provides mobile data in China for a duration you choose from 1 to 180 days. Every duration uses the same fair-use structure: 1.5GB of high-speed data during each 24-hour period, followed by data at 1Mbps until the daily allowance resets.

What unlimited data means on this plan

The plan provides 1.5GB at high speed in each 24-hour service period. Once that allowance is used, the connection continues at 1Mbps. The high-speed allowance resets every 24 hours from the time the eSIM first activates, rather than at midnight.

A 1Mbps connection may be suitable for messaging, maps and lighter browsing, but large downloads, video calls and high-resolution streaming can be slower after the daily high-speed allowance is used. Hotspot sharing is supported and draws from the same plan.

Networks, app access and coverage

The eSIM is supplied through Singtel Singapore and connects through China Unicom or China Telecom. It supports 4G and 5G where the network and device allow, although 5G is not guaranteed in every location. You can check network coverage for the areas on your itinerary.

Automatic VPN routing is set up for access to services such as Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and TikTok while using mobile data through this eSIM. Third-party app availability and local access conditions can change. This product lists China as its covered destination.

Set up and activate your China eSIM

  1. Install over reliable Wi-Fi. TravelKon emails the eSIM details after purchase. Add the eSIM to an unlocked, compatible phone that displays an EID.
  2. Keep the line off until you reach China. Leave the eSIM line and data roaming turned off before arrival. A failed-activation message outside the coverage area is normal; the eSIM should connect after reaching a supported network.
  3. Start the selected duration in China. The plan begins when the eSIM first connects to a supported network. No ID registration is required. Follow the eSIM setup guide before departure.
  4. Check the connection settings if needed. Assign mobile data to the TravelKon eSIM, turn on data roaming and wait up to 10 minutes. Use e-ideas as the APN and leave the username and password blank. The troubleshooting guides cover the remaining checks.

This was the first time I used an eSIM. It was fantastic! The instructions were easy to use and within seconds of landing on the tarmac I switched on the eSIM and I had the internet.
