Important Notes

  • TikTok (iPhone only) & ChatGPT will work by changing APN to “esimnext” this changes the IP to Singapore (Note for Android users: TikTok will NOT work)
  • Adding the eSIM outside the coverage country may result in a “failed activation” which is normal. The eSIM will activate once you reach your destination.
  • Activation required in Hong Kong, you will receive a text message with the KYC link upon arrival, click the link and follow the prompt – passport upload is required
  • Check network coverage in your intended travel areas; Coverage issues are outside our control and we do not offer refunds.
  • *Fair Usage Policy – this eSIM includes 1.5GB of high-speed data per day. After reaching the limit, speeds are reduced to 1Mbps until midnight, when the max speed is restored.

 

Troubleshooting Guide

eSIM not working? Don’t stress! Follow this guide to get you up and running.

  1. Disable VPN and any secondary SIM/eSIM lines (for dual SIM phones)
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi and disable airplane mode before scanning the eSIM
  3. Confirm mobile data is sourced from our eSIM (i.e. the correct eSIM profile is selected)
  4. Turn data roaming on (Android: select all network)
  5. Wait up to 10 minutes for activation to occur
  6. APN: mobile.three.com.hk | Username: [blank]  Password: [blank] (Android: select manually)
    • APN to access TikTok (iPhone only) and ChatGPT: esimnext | Username: [blank]  Password: [blank] (Android: select manually)
  7. Turn off automatic network selection and manually choose from the list below.
  8. Restart your phone and/or turn on and off airplane mode

Setting up and activating the CMHK eSIM was straightforward and hassle-free. It connects to the China Mobile network in China. Initially, I encountered some sluggish connections on both iPhone and Android devices in certain areas, but disabling 5G resolved the issue. 4G speed proved to be more than sufficient. For an 18-day trip with typical usage (excluding YouTube), 10GB of data is recommended.

I have bought eSIM & SIM Cards from Travelkon to use in Europe ( all Schengen countries & UK ) & Asia ( China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand ) flor my wife and myself. I haven’t even once encountered any difficulties, be it connection or the quality of the reception. The last trip ( last November 25 ) I didn’t enough data, so I bought additional eSIM, which delivered in my mailbox spontaneous and straightaway connected. I will buy eSIM ONLY from Travelkon.

You require wifi to setup, which was available at Shanghai airport, so I could set it up upon arrival in China. The reception is great for all places I have been to so far (Taiyuan, Datong, and most of the way in between). I highly recommend. One thing: you chew through your data quickly, so I recommend buying more than you typically use (if you typically use wifi at home).
