Thing’s to know
- The eSIM’s provider is KDDI (local Japanese operator)
- Plan starts when eSIM connects to supported network
- No ID registration needed
- Service days are calculated according to Japan Standard Time (GMT+9) and reset at 00:00 (midnight) each day, not based on a 24-hour period.
- No calls or texts included (data-only eSIM)
- Coverage on KDDI
- Compatible with unlocked eSIM-enabled phones (with EID numbers)
Important Notes
- Adding the eSIM outside the coverage country may result in a “failed activation,” which is normal. The eSIM will activate once you reach your destination.
- Once the eSIM is installed it cannot be transferred or deleted – no refunds will be provided for installation error or accidental delete
- eSIM service will end on 180th day of purchase (including data usage). Please ensure you purchase carefully, as no refunds can be issued once the eSIM has been delivered.

eSIM not working? Don’t stress! Follow this guide to get you up and running.
- Disable VPN and any secondary SIM/eSIM lines (for dual SIM phones)
- Connect to Wi-Fi and disable airplane mode before scanning the eSIM
- Confirm mobile data is sourced from our eSIM (i.e. the correct eSIM profile is selected)
- Turn data roaming on (Android: select all network)
- Wait up to 10 minutes for activation to occur

Was extremely pleased with how easily I got the eSIM installed at the 11th hour before departing. Upon arrival in Japan I switched it on before we reached the gate and it worked flawlessly the entire time. Not speaking the language and not having had the chance to thoroughly plan the trip it was a relief to have access to maps and the internet in an instant, what with three kids relying on me. I would highly recommend getting such a product rather than relying on public wifi.
