How Japan’s Short-Stay Visa Exemption Works
As mentioned earlier, Australia is included in Japan’s visa-exemption scheme. An eligible Australian visitor may receive Temporary Visitor status for up to 90 days.

You must enter Japan when collecting and rechecking baggage, changing airports or staying overnight outside the transit area. This includes transfers between Narita and Haneda.
