Things to know

  • Activation required – please read the activation procedure below carefully before purchasing the SIM card
  • Local Telkomsel Indonesian SIM Card – all text from the network will be in Indonesian
  • Simple plug & play activation (once activated)
  • Our Indonesian local partner may activate the SIM D-1 (i.e. one day before your arrival date) to ensure smooth activation, in that case you may only have 29 days of service.
  • No Voice or SMS/text allowance (you can only receive SMS/text)
  • Recharge available via the Telkomsel app or by going to a convenience store if you want to have credit to do voice calls / SMS or purchasing extra data packs (starts from as low as $2)
  • Check your data by downloading the myTelkomsel Official App or dial *363# and choose “cek kuota”
  • Please ignore the expiry date or the plan name on the packaging, always refer to our product page for the latest information
  • Note: Pixel phone is not supported

This is a LOCAL Indonesian SIM card, new Indonesian Government’s policy requires tourists to submit personal data (IMEI and Passport) to unlock your mobile phone’s IMEI to be used in Indonesia, your personal data will be submitted to the local Indonesian provider, TravelKon DOES NOT sell your data and will only use the data for activation purposes only. Please note Indonesian (Citizen) Passport Holder is not eligible to get the IMEI unlocked, you can purchase our roaming options below.

For Indonesian citizen, if your phone is already unlocked you can purchase this SIM and register using your KTP and KK kirim SMS “REG NIK#KK#” ke 4444. We are not responsible if the SIM does not work due to your phone’s IMEI being locked – no refunds will be provided in this case.

If you do not want to provide your personal data we suggest getting our roaming Indonesian physical SIM card or eSIM which can be delivered in Australia.

Activation / Order Procedure:

  1. Purchase local Telkomsel Indonesian SIM card from our website
  2. We will send order confirmation with a Google Form link to submit your details
  3. Details to be submitted at the latest 24 hours prior to scheduled arrival time:
    • A clear photo of Adult Passport Photo Page along with the SIM Card packaging showing the number (note: Indonesian Passport is NOT eligible)
    • A clear photo of the SIM card packaging by itself (please DO NOT throw away the SIM card packaging – no refunds will be provided due to failure to provide the photo of the SIM card packaging)
    • Screenshot of IMEI number from your mobile device (Dial *#06# and then screenshot the page)
    • Flight arrival details
    • Note: 1 passport can only be used for 1 SIM card
  4. The SIM card will be delivered to your Australian address, you will need to wait for the SIM to arrive before submitting the details via Google Form.

We recommend you to submit your details between 2 to 5 day prior to your arrival, this will allow the local team to pre-activate the SIM and unlock your IMEI. Not submitting your details means the local team would not be able to activate the SIM and the SIM won’t work.

Troubleshooting Guide:

Please note that if the SIM card does not work (e.g. there is no signal or the data is not working) the IMEI registration may have failed, you MUST contact us or the local provider on WhatsApp +6281529261858 to troubleshoot. Please note no refunds will be provided if you do not contact us or the local provider.

  1. From the moment I touched down in Bali, the network is immediately activated. It certainly saved me queuing at the airport. Downloading the Telkomsel app helps you to monitor your data as they kept sending you a text that your data is 500mb left. Coverage was great in the mountain.
    I had to contact Travelkon’s customer service and the response was immediate. They were able to provide me with troubleshooting solutions in time. Thanks again, I’m definitely a returning customer.

  2. I asked travelkon a lot of questions offline and they answered quickly everytime, very professional customer service. As feedback, would be nice to get email feedback when information has been submitted via the form and also email confirmation when card has been activated. Small matters… didn’t change the fact the process was smooth and was a good experience.

  3. I pre-ordered the SIM cards and completed the set-up before my travel date, and it was that simple.

    When we landed, we switched to the Telkomsel sim card, which worked immediately and had coverage throughout our time in Bali.

    It’s super simple; I will use Telkomsel again.

  5. The sim card totally did not work at all. I followed every step in the instruction. But the card was not active. This is a fake card and fake service.
